There are lots of things to remember when you are walking in the autumn. It's especially important to remember that it is easy to slip on wet or frozen ground.
You must wear appropriate shoes, take additional time and remember to establish crucial points of connection with your sticks before you move over uneven ground.
Some puddles may also be hiding slippery stones or sticks so be aware of these too. If you're walking round the outside of a puddle along the edge and you must be especially careful as slips can jar joints, backs and knees.
It's important not to be scared to go and walk, and worsening winter weather offers great opportunity to see the natural environment in a different way. Autumn is a fantastic time to enjoy nature and see the leaves and colours that are not typical.
If you are interested in joining a group walk, we run them throughout the year.
